It would be good to have drinking potions in particular added to the game log, so that players aren't left wondering "wait, where did my money go?" when an opponent drinks a level 2 love potion, for example.

I agree. It's confusing for the active player, and for other players at the table, when drinking potions (and the benefits gained) are not shown in the log.
