I'm not entirely sure if it's actually a display issue and if they might still function, but as I couldn't see what they were, it effects my ability to play the game.
I increased my hand size after taking my turn from the PC, from 5 when I first encountered this bug (3 displayed in hand) to 6 (4 displayed in hand)
