all available spaces to place tile had white hexes. They remained on top when the tile was placed making, setting the orientation of the tile impossible.

Sorry I took so long to reply to your bug report.
What is not normal is that those white hexes should be partly transparent.
I have just tested the game on safari (but on a computer, I don't have an iPad), and they are displayed properly.
I have made a change that should improve the situation and make them transparent - but I can't test it. Could you let me know if it worked?
