Turns
Each turn consists of 4 phases:
- Take card
- Move vehicle
- Refill empty spot
- Place card
1. TAKE CARD
Take 1 of the 3 Subject cards for the continent column where your vehicle is.
2. MOVE VEHICLE
Move your vehicle to the continent with the color of the card you took. (If you took a white 1945 or Einstein card, you may choose the continent.)
3. REFILL EMPTY SPOT
BGA will refill the empty spot with the top subject card of the stock and rearrange the column in ascending year order.
4. PLACE CARD
Place your the Subject card you took in either one of the 5 showcases in your Exhibition Hall (16 spots) or in your Depot (3 spots)
Exhibition Requirements
Years must ascend
Within each showcase, each card must display a higher year than cards on its left side and lower than cards on its right side.
Continents Must Be Different
Within each showcase, each card's continent/color must be unique (except for the One Continent Showcase).
One Continent Showcase
Within the One Continent Showcase, all cards must have the same continent/color AND it must be a continent no other player has in their One Continent Showcase.
One Era Showcase
Neighboring cards cannot have a difference of more than 10 years. That means the difference between 3 cards can be a maximum of 20 years, 4 cards with 30 years, etc.
Special White Cards
There are 2 white cards that do not pertain to any continent: 1945 and Albert Einstein. These cards do not count for points, but they can be used to fill gaps inbetween showcases. For 1945, the continent is "wild", but the year is not. For Albert Einstein both the continent and year are wild.
Final Exhibitions
The game ends if 1) All 16 Exhibition Hall spots are filled 2) You cannot place a card in your Exhibition Hall and either cannot or will not place one in one of your 3 Depot spots.
Others may keep playing turns.
Scoring
Cards in your Depot don't count for calculating game points.
The first player with at least 1 card from each of the 6 continents anywhere in their EXHIBITION HALL gets 5 fame points. The second player gets 4. The third player gets 3. The fourth player gets 2. The fifth player gets 1.
Players who reach this goal in the same round get the same fame points.
End Game
Years Gap Showcase
The player with the biggest gap between the 2 cards in this showcase gets 5 fame points. The second biggest gap brings 4 fame points. Third gets 3 fame points. Fourth gets 2 fame points. Fifth gets 1 fame point. Equal players get the same fame points. Players with an empty spot or the Einstein card in this showcase score 0 fame points.
Continent Focus
As many fame points as the largest number of cards of the same continent. White cards don't count.
Number of Decades
One fame point per decade you have 1 or more cards of. (10 fame points max)
Chain of Years
One fame point per card in your longest series of consecutive years (ex. 1916, 1917, 1918...). These cards don't have to be adjacent to each other. The minimum score is 1 point.
Penalty Points
Subtract 1 fame point per empty spot in your Exhibition Hall
Subtract 1 fame point for each card in your Depot.
Tiebreaker
If two players have an equal number of fame points, the player with the card closest to 1950 in the 1950 Showcase wins. If both players have a card that's equally close, they draw.
Secret Decade Variant
Shuffle 10 "Secret Decade" cards. Deal 1 to each player. Keep your card secret from other players until the end of game. Players score 1 fame point per card that matches your secret decade.
Variation Showcases
Variation Showcases can be added to the base game showcases.
Each player uses the same set.
The 2 white cards can't be placed in Variation Showcases.
General rules (e.g. ascending years, different continents) apply to Variation Showcases as well.
Spread the Years
Difference between 2 neighboring cards must be 20 years or more.
Links
Neighboring cards must have the same continent or no more than 5 years difference. They can have both.
Short Era
The player with the smallest difference between years in their left and right spots receives 5 fame points. Second place gets 4 fame points, and so on.
One Decade
All cards must be within the same decade.
Antiquity
The player with the oldest year in the rightmost spot receives 5 fame points. Second place gets 4 fame points, and so on.
Unique Decades
Each decade must be different than decades placed by other players (including yourself). In four-player games, only the 10s, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s are allowed. In three-player games, only the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s are allowed. In two-player games, only the 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s are allowed.
Solo
Your final score is multiplied by 100 compared to a "normal" game.
Most rules are the same, except that:
- All 6 continents are worth only 1 fame point.
- Mid-century gives you 1 fame point minus 200 fame points per year between 1950 and your card's year.
- Years gap: If this showcase is full and does not contain the Albert Einstein card, score 5 fame points minus 1 fame point per available card (below the continents) being lower than the left card or higher than the right one. Fame points cannot be negative.
- Short era: If this showcase is full and does not contain the Albert Einstein card, score 5 fame points minus 1 fame points per available card (below the continents) being within your era (higher than the left card and lower than the right one). Fame points cannot be negative.
- Antiquity: If this showcase is full and does not contain the Albert Einstein card, score 5 fame points minus 1 fame points per available card (below the continents) being lower than the right one. Fame points cannot be negative.
