Hello, I'm playing my first Marco Polo game on BGA, but I've played many live.
I think a big improvement to this online version would be an option to choose the characters via an auction system (with travel tickets already in hand): characters in Marco Polo can be really unbalanced, also depending on the setup.

In my opinion, the system could be similar, for example, to the one implemented in the BGA versions of Clans of Caledonia or Terra Mystica, and totally optional of course. But it would be particularly useful for tournaments and arena.

I agree. In this game (cardboard, not virtual), you get a choice of 2 at the start of the game.

I've played several two-player games and we just get the same two characters each time (Matteo and Sinan). I thought this was only in training mode, but it happens even in normal mode. Greatly reduces deployability.
