Skelit's Revenge....the most feared ship on the high seas....and you've finally taken it. Captain Fromm and his skeleton crew have amassed a massive treasure, and now is your chance to take it all. Players take on the role of Pirates who are boarding Skelit's Revenge for one purpose....to take the loot. They must battle the flames, the skeleton crew, and their own fatigue if they hope to make it out alive.
Dead Men Tell No Tales is a co-operative game for 1-5 players. The game uses the common Action Point system to determine what a player does on their turn...with a twist. As players work together, they can pass their Actions on to their teammates in order to best utilize the assets that they have. Players will build the board as they play, ensuring that no two games will ever be alike. As they search the ship for the Treasure, they will encounter Enemies and Guards that they must battle, along with various items that will help them in their quest. all the while, battling the inferno that resulted when they took over the ship. Unique systems for tracking fire, enemy movement, and a player’s fatigue all combine into an interesting and unique cooperative gaming experience.

Goal
Loot treasures from the Skelit's Revenge before the ship sinks.
Search the Ship
- Place a tile (2 for the first round)
- Randomly place a token
- If a tile can not be place the game is lost
Player Phase
Each character takes a turn taking actions 5 for most characters
- Walk / Run
- Fight Fires
- Eliminate Deckhands
- Pick up a Token
- Rest
- Increase Battle Strength
- Swap Item Card
- Use an item card (Some items are free actions)
- End your turn and pass your remaining actions to the next character
If currently looting, can only walk, rest, and swap items.
If a there are 2 deckhands, tokens cannot be picked up, 3 or more and you must leave or eliminate them.
If fatigue is greater than the fire level, you can only leave, rest, or fight the fire.
Movement
- Increase fatigue by the difference between the current room and the target room
- Running is an additional 2 fatigue
- If a players fatigue (see the dice on the fatigue dial) is greater than the rooms fire level, the room cannot be entered
- If the deckhands are three or more in a room, it cannot be entered
Explosions
- If the fire in a room is 6, the room is destroyed, fire spreads to adjacent rooms, and advance the explosion track by 1
- If the fire matches a powder keg, fire spreads to 1 adjacent room (matching the direction/first adjacent room counter-clockwise), advance the explosion track by 1
- If the explosion tracker reaches 7 the game is lost
Enemy Phase
- Draw a revenge card
- Increases all of the corresponding fire dice
- Move Crew / Spawn Deckhands / Spread Deckhands according to the secondary icon
- When 3 fives are drawn the revenge deck discard is shuffled into the deck
Combat
- Combat is fought immediately on the players turn, when a crew is in the same room (no action cost)
- Crew must be fought before the guards
- Roll a die, then choose to add any temporary strength
- If your roll + strength is greater or equal to the enemies value, you win
- Otherwise roll the dice again to determine the result
- 1-2 The skeleton crew retreats
- 3-4 The player retreats
- 5 Battle again
- 6 Choose any of the above
- Defeated enemies will drop a token or treasure that can be picked up
Tokens
- Grog, can be used to recover fatigue and are then discarded
- Cutlass, permanently increase your strength
- Treasure, take the
Death
If a character is lost in an explosion, or their fatigue reaches 16
- Drop any treasure
- Tokens (grog/cutlass) and items are destroyed permanently
- Draw a new character
- Draw a new item
- Start from the dinghy
If there are no characters left the game is lost
Game End
Win
The required number of treasures are looted and all characters leave the ship
Scurvy Dog: 2-3 Players: Loot 4 treasures / 4-5 Players: Loot 5 treasures
Buccaneer: 2-3 Players: Loot 5 treasures / 4-5 Players: Loot 6 treasures
Admiral: 2-3 Players: Loot 6 treasures / 4-5 Players: Loot 6 treasures and defeat all Skeleton Crew
Lose
- 7 Explosions
- Running out of deckhands (30 total)
- A room tile cannot be placed
- There are not enough treasures (they were destroyed by an explosion)
- After all treasures have been looted, any pirate dies when escaping the ship
- There are no more pirates left to replace one who died
