JiPaulThe "Oh Hell!" game (or "Lift" game) is a classic card game in which the goal is to score as many points as possible by predicting (betting) in advance the number of tricks you will take (win) in the round. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

JiPaulTo take (win) a trick you have to play the highest card in the chosen suit. (clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades). The chosen suit is the one played by the first player of the trick. JiPaulThe number of cards that a player will play in each round (and therefore the number of tricks to be made) increases during the game. This is why the game is called "l'ascenseur" (the lift) in French. 4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

JiPaulThe first round is played with just one card in each hand. This one (8 of diamonds) is the card of *your hand*. 5diamond-8-40

JiPaulThe first player to bet (and also to play) is the player just after the dealer. He have bet that he will make *[red]1[/red]* trick. You see here "Tricks : *0 / [red]1[/red]*" 4player_boards

JiPaulIt is up to you to make your prediction. Your card is the 8 of diamonds. It is not a very strong card. Besides, it is not you who will start (choose the suit). So it is very likely that you will not make the trick. So you will bet 0 as the number of tricks you will win. 5action_bidding_tricks

JiPaulThe next round we play two cards and you begin. The ace of spades is strong, and will probably win a trick. But the 4 of clubs is weak and probably won't win the trick. So you can predict (bet) that you will win 1 trick out of the two in the round. Click OK in the result window, if needed, before you click to bet. 2bid_1

JiPaulThe other two players bet 0 and 2 tricks as you can see at the top right of the screen (follow the green arrow).3spade-14-18

JiPaulIt's up to you. You begin with the ace of spades. 4spade-14-18

JiPaulBad luck: Anik had no spades and therefore he'll play a trump card (the 8 of hearts). So he wins the trick (1). For the next move Anik will play the ace of hearts and win the second trick he had planned. *Click "continue" to see all that.* (1): If a player does not have the chosen suit and he plays trump suit, then he wins the trick. JiPaulFor this third round, each player has three cards. Siobelli starts and bets 2 tricks. The third player bets 0 tricks. Your cards are not very strong, and you have no trump. So *0 tricks seems a good bet for you*. Furthermore you cannot choose 1 trick, because you are the dealer and the sum of the bets must not be equal to the number of cards in the hand.1biddingText

JiPaulSiobel starts and plays the 9 of diamonds. Anik has no diamonds. He therefore plays another suit (he does not have to play trump). This way he will not bring back the trick. 1diamond-9-28

JiPaulIt's up to you to play. You have to play the 7 of diamonds (the requested suit). And so you don't win the trick either. 3diamond-7-27
