GoldenSky8N*Welcome to [red]Minhwatu[/red], a Korean card-matching game!* Minhwatu uses a card deck known as Hwatu, or Hanafuda in Japan. You can change the design of the cards to the Japanese version by going into the Options tab during a game.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

GoldenSky8NWhen playing Minhwatu, the goal is to get points by matching cards you have in your hand to cards in the center. To see what cards match, *hover over a card (in your hand or in the center)* or click on *"Month List" at the top*.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

GoldenSky8NIn addition to the twelve months, all of which are represented by a different flower, there are *four different kinds of cards, and they all score differently*.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

GoldenSky8NAfter you play a card, whether it matches one in the center or not, *another is drawn from the deck*. If *it matches another in the center, you capture those *as well, following the same rules as when you capture cards by playing a card in your hand. GoldenSky8NIf there are two matching cards in the center and you play a third, you *only capture one*. If one card is clearly weaker than the other, the system will automatically pick the better card. However, if one of the options is a yaku card and the other is a bright or animal card, *you also have to select the card you want to capture*.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

Yaku are sets of cards and completing one will *give you a set amount of points*, while simultaneously *subtracting the same amount of points from your opponent*. GoldenSky8NThere are two variant rules that can be added while opening a table: Five Birds and Four Paulownias. These are additional Yaku. When enabled, you can see the required cards and the point values in the Yaku List.9archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

GoldenSky8NAt the end of the round, this box shows up, giving a summary of the scoring from that round. The "Card score" row shows what each player scored based on their cards, "Yaku score" shows how scores were affected by yaku, and the "Round Score" row shows total scores for the round (cards+yaku). "Total score" shows the scores from all rounds. Whoever has the *higher round score starts the next round*.2popin_tableWindow_close

GoldenSky8NThe number of rounds can be set when opening a table: 1x player count, 2x player count, or 3x player count. So for a two-player game, you can have 2, 4, or 6 rounds.7archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment
