Tofu666This is the *Eclipse Track* which marks the progress of the game. At each of the three *Eclipses* your accomplishments will be judged--so make the most of each move to secure your family's place in history!6calendar_track_step_5

Tofu666Let's take our first move. Send this worker to the Quarry to get some resources for building the pyramid. *(click on this worker, then on the Quarry at the top right of the board)*787819002_worker_1

Tofu666Workers move in a *clockwise* direction around the eight action spaces, up to a maximum of three spaces (possible moves are highlighted in green).8actionBoard_2

Tofu666You have to pay your worker some amount of *cocoa* to take the Main Action of a space. The amount equals the number of *different coloured* workers already on the space, in this case, TWO. !!!Please note: cocoa costs displayed in the header may be incorrect when viewing this tutorial. The costs listed in these tutorial boxes are correct. !!! *(click to take the main action for 2 cocoa)*1button_1_id

Tofu666Each of the three resource spaces (Quarry, Forest, and Gold Deposits) show a chart and give you some amount of resources based upon the *number* of your workers there (along the left), and the *power* of your lowest worker (shown across the top). In this case, we have *ONE worker* with *power 2*, so we get one stone.1POS_aBoard_2_dGroup_90774036_dice_3

Tofu666Finally, you get to *power up* one of your workers on the action space. If you have three or more workers there, you get 2 power ups!2POS_aBoard_2_dGroup_90774036_dice_3

Tofu666Our opponent moved a second worker to the Forest. Two workers with power 1 gets one wood. This cost 3 cocoa because there were *three* different colours of workers there (including her own) before the new worker showed up.1POS_aBoard_4_dGroup_1_dice_1

Tofu666There are other options other than the Main Action on some spaces, these are called *Worship* Actions. They require you to "lock" a worker, but allow you to climb a temple, get a *Discovery Tile* for use, or both if you pay 1 cocoa. *(click on this worker, then on the Gold Deposit at the top left of the board)*187819002_worker_3

Tofu666If the lock space (the square with a key) is empty, as it is on Gold Deposits, worshipping is *free*. If it is occupied by another player's worker, you have to pay *1 cocoa* to unlock that worker before placing yours there. (You CANNOT unlock your own workers this way!) *(click here to take the Worship Action for free)*1button_3_id

Tofu666We can climb the Blue Temple AND take the Discovery Tile if we pay 1 cocoa. *(click here to do both)*1button_3_id

Tofu666Our opponent built a tile in the *Pyramid*! Building is accomplished on the *Construction* Action Space. You can build 1, 2, or 3 tiles depending on the number of your workers there. Across the bottom of this space it lists the *costs* in stone/wood and *VP* you gain from building on different levels--the higher up you build, the more it costs but the more points you get! 1POS_aBoard_5_dice_worship_3

Tofu666Let's take a look at another Action Space, Alchemy. *(click this worker and move one space ahead)*287819002_worker_1

Tofu666Additionally, if you place matching icons over each other, you gain 1 extra VP per icon. If the matching icons on the tile you add are *coloured*, you gain a step up on that colour *Temple*!4pyramidTile_19

Tofu666She also advances one space on the *pyramid track*. At each Eclipse, you gain points based on how many tiles you've built.5pyramid_track_step_1

Tofu666Remember, we have to pay 1 cocoa to do the Main Action because there is one colour of worker already there. *(click to take the main action for one cocoa)*2button_1_id

Tofu666There are six different *Technologies* available in each game. You can choose from the top row with ONE worker, or either row with TWO workers (exception, if there is only ONE worker of power 4 or 5 you can choose either row). Technologies cost either 1 or 2 gold. (you can hover over each for cost and a description of their effects)1actionBoard_3

Tofu666Let's choose this technology, which gets us an additional wood, stone, or gold from the resource spaces. *(click on this one)*2technologyTile_2

Tofu666Each Technology also grants a Temple step shown next to it--in this case Green. At certain steps of the temple, we have the option to get Discovery tiles. Here, we can buy a Mask for 1 wood. Mask sets score points at each Eclipse. *(click the tile, and then Claim on the top bar)*1discoveryTile_7

Tofu666This space is called the Palace. There is no Main Action here--just three *lock actions* which do different things, often dependent on the power of the worker used. Like a Worship action, if you pay 1 cocoa, you can also take the Discovery Tile there.1POS_aBoard_1_discoveryTile_0

Tofu666There is one last option when moving a worker on our turn--we can forfeit the Main or Worship Action to just *Gain Cocoa*. *(click on this worker and move one space ahead)*187819002_worker_2

Tofu666Count the number of different coloured workers already on the space we are moving to, in this case 3. We receive that much cocoa plus 1. *(click here to collect 4 cocoa)*1button_2_id

Tofu666When we use our turn to collect cocoa, we don't power up our worker.187819002_worker_2

Tofu666Our opponent took the Noble Action to move up the *Avenue Of The Dead*. It costs 2 wood, and gains you instant VP plus VP at each Eclipse for each step you've advanced. 1actionBoard_7

Tofu666Now that we have a good amount of wood and stone, let's build on the *Pyramid*, one of the main ways to get points in the game. *(click on this worker and move one space ahead)*187819002_worker_1

Tofu666Let's build a tile here, in the centre of the pyramid. We can rotate the tiles before placing them to line up icons better! *(click on the leftmost tile on the Action Space to select it, then click again to rotate it. finally click on the centre of the pyramid)* (if all goes correctly, you will get 3VP for building on the second level and 2 for matching icons) (minimize this window if you can't see the Building space tiles)1construction_level_1_r_1_c_1

Tofu666Let's build another tile here, next to the one we just built. *(click on the centre tile on the Action Space to select it, then click again to rotate it. Tofu666Now we're ahead of our opponent on the pyramid track! This will earn us extra points at the Eclipse.1pyramid_track_marker_87819002

Tofu666*Ascension* is a feature that triggers immediately when a worker reaches power 6. When this happens, we advance up the *Avenue Of The Dead*, reset our worker to power 1 and move them to the Palace. Also when a worker ascends, the Eclipse track moves ahead by one.187819002_worker_1

Tofu666Then we get to choose an *Ascension bonus* from the options here. *(choose the bottom green circle to get an additional worker and 2 cocoa)*4ascension_2

Tofu666This is free, because there is no workers on this space. *(click on Main Action)*1button_1_id

Tofu666Decorations cost *3 gold*, and gain you 3VP plus matching icons and temple steps because the decoration icons are coloured. Plus it advances us on the pyramid track!1actionBoard_6

Tofu666Let's decorate with this tile on the space to the left of the pyramid. It will earn a Blue Temple step. *(click on the decoration, then on the space to the left of the pyramid, confirm on the top bar)* (After this move, we will move to the first Eclipse to explain scoring.)2decorationTile_7

Tofu666So we've seen the Action Spaces and options for your turns, the only thing left to explain is the Eclipse Scoring, which happens 3 times throughout the game. As you can see, each player scores for Avenue Of The Dead, each step on the pyramid track--with an extra a bonus for being first, and for sets of mask Discovery Tiles. We must also feed our workers, 1 cocoa for workers 1, 2, or 3, and 2 cocoa for workers power 4 or 5. *Careful!* We spent all but 1 of our cocoa--we lose 3VP for each cocoa we don't pay!!
