NekonyancerIn *Verdant,* players will take turns drafting *Room* cards, *Plant* cards, and *Item* tokens and adding them to their expanding home, eventually creating a complete *5x3* grid of cards. Players score points by making sure their plants get enough light and by positioning plants and items to match each room's decor. [green]When each player's 5x3 grid is complete, whoever has the most points wins!2maintitlebar_content

NekonyancerAt the beginning of the game, each player is dealt one *Room* card and one *Plant* card. The Room card was automatically placed in our play area, but we have to decide where to place the Plant card.3grid_36_11941354

NekonyancerAs you can see, we can only place cards in slots that are *adjacent* to at least one other card. We can't have cards "floating" in the middle of nowhere.4grid_36_11941354

NekonyancerAfter we placed the plant, BGA placed one [green]*Verdancy token*[/green] on it. NekonyancerNext, take a look at our *Room* card. There are four light indicators on it, showing what the lighting is like in each part of the room. There's a *semi-shade* indicator on the right side of the card, which is where we put the Creeping Fig, which likes Semi-shade lighting. Thus, a [green]*Verdancy token!*[/green]3room_28

NekonyancerNow that everyone's finished placing their first plant, we can start taking turns. BGA randomly selected our opponent as the first player. In compensation, BGA gave us two [green]*Green Thumb tokens.*[/green] Our [red]*opponent*[/red] didn't get any. We'll see how they're used later.1icon_thumb_92143487

NekonyancerOn each player's turn, they must take 1 *Plant card* or 1 *Room card* from the [red]*Market.*[/red] They will also acquire whichever *Item token* is in the same column. Then, they must add the card to their home, decide what to do with the Item, and collect Verdancy. [red]Our opponent will demonstrate...[/red] [green](Step 10/52)[/green]2market_name

NekonyancerOkay, now we have to place the Room card in our home. As you can see, it must be placed next to the plant. Room cards can only be placed next to plants, and vice versa, making a *checkered* pattern. *Place the new Room here.*1grid_37_11941354

NekonyancerAs you can see, the lighting conditions in our new Room affected our plant! Since the side touching the plant has a *Semi-shade* indicator - again, one of the the Fig's preferred lighting levels - it gained another [green]*Verdancy token.*[/green]1plant_33

NekonyancerOh! I almost forgot about the cat! You've probably already noticed that these Item tokens are the same size and shape as the dark area in the middle of each Room card. Each Room card can hold *one* Item token. *Click on the cat...*4tile_41

Nekonyancer*Great!* If you look really, really closely, you'll see that it says "Match x2" just under the cat. Since the cat is the same color as the room, the room is now worth twice as many points! NekonyancerOkay, now let's deal with the item. It's green, which means it's a [green]*Nurture item.*[/green] Nurture items help us get more [green]*verdancy*[/green] and then are discarded. NekonyancerGreat, there are 4 Verdancy tokens on our Inch plant now! But what do they do, anyway? Well, take a look at the *top-right corner* of the card... NekonyancerHmm. I want to get another light blue room to go with our two light blue plants, but there aren't any available in the market. This is a good time to use our [green]*Green Thumb tokens!*[/green]1icon_thumb_11941354

Discard and restock any number of Item tokens in the market.* Selected items are set aside, new items are drawn from the bag to replace them, and then the set-aside items go back into the [red]*item bag.*[/red] [green](Step 30/52)[/green]2bag_market

Nekonyancer*2. Discard and restock any number of cards in the market.* This is similar to restocking Item tokens, but we cannot discard/restock cards with Green Thumb tokens on them, like [blue]*this one.*[/blue]3room_51

Nekonyancer*3. Take a card and item from different columns.* Let's say we wanted to take the [red]*orange room.*[/red] Instead of taking the watering can in the same column, we could take the [blue]*purple cat.*[/blue]4room_20

Nekonyancer*4. Add 1 Verdancy token to any plant.* [green]So, again, the four options are:[/green] *1.* Restock Items. *2.* Restock Cards. *3.* Take stuff from different columns. *4.* 1 Verdancy. Nekonyancer*Next, select the two purple cards and the yellow card.* They should all have solid yellow outlines now. In a normal game, you'll be able to click on *"Reset cards"* at this point, but it unfortunately doesn't work in Tutorial Mode. =/ *Continue,* and I'll take care of it for you.1room_20

NekonyancerShoot! We still didn't find a light blue room. Oh well... let's just take this orange one instead. *Click on it!*1room_59

NekonyancerWe're taking this particular orange card - and not the one with green thumbs on it - because it has good lighting conditions for our plants. *Place the room here!*1grid_26_11941354

NekonyancerGreat! Even though the colors don't match, the lighting conditions are appropriate, adding another Verdancy token to each of our plants. That got our Inch plant to its potting requirement of 5 tokens!1plant_26

NekonyancerWhen a plant reaches its requirement, all Verdancy tokens on it are discarded. BGA then takes the best available pot in the Market and places it on the plant. This fancy [blue]*concrete pot*[/blue] is worth 3 points at the end of the game!2pot_house_plant_26

NekonyancerAs you can see, there are two more 3-point [blue]*Concrete pots*[/blue] here. When they're gone, players will have to settle for 2-point [red]*Wooden pots,*[/red] then 1-point [green]*Ceramic pots,*[/green] and finally 0-point Terra Cotta pots. [green](Step 40/52)[/green]3market_cell_12

NekonyancerDon't forget that we will also score points from the plant itself. Our potted Inch plant is worth *5* points, as you can see in the top-right corner. [red]Unpotted plants are worth 0 points![/red]4plant_26

NekonyancerNext, let's deal with our item. It's a [blue]*Hand Trowel,*[/blue] which let's us add 1 Verdancy to three different plants. Unfortunately, we only have two plants, one of which is already potted. We can't place Verdancy tokens on potted plants. [red]It would be a waste to use this item now![/red]5market_cell_35

NekonyancerFortunately, we have one [blue]*item storage slot*[/blue] here. If we end our turn without using the item, it will automatically move to fill the slot. If we try that when the slot is already full, we'll have to choose one token to discard. *Click on [red]"End Turn"[/red] at the top!*6icon_reserve_11941354

NekonyancerBy the way, there's a limit for Green Thumbs as well: five tokens. So, you can hold onto 1 Item and 5 Green Thumbs at a time.1icon_thumb_11941354

Nekonyancer*Okay, I think you've seen enough!* Eventually, each player will complete a 5x3 grid of cards. They may not place cards that break this pattern. [green]When everyone's grids are complete, BGA will score them![/green]2maintitlebar_content

NekonyancerI already told you how scoring works for *Rooms* (1 per adjacent plant of the same color, 2 if there's a matching item too) and *Potted Plants* (value in top-right corner if potted, plus 1/2/3 for the pot), but that's not all! *Leftover Verdancy* Each player earns 1 point for every two leftover Verdancy tokens, rounded down. For example, 7 tokens are worth 3 points.3maintitlebar_content
